Long-term agricultural field experiments are essential for quantifying changes in soil properties and associated crop productivity that occur slowly but continue over long periods. Initiated 1894 the South of Denmark, Askov long-term experiment (LTE) is among few LTEs world continued more than 125 years. The compares different rates nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium applied mineral fertilizers or animal manure with abundant treatment replicates. With well-managed treatments, detailed yield records, a archive dating back to 1923, today Askov-LTE represents unique platform research not envisioned at start experiments.
